European Job Shadowing

Job shadowing is most often associated with vocational studies where it is an integrated part of education. The students need to both be aware of what possibilities there are when it comes to future occupations and what qualifications and skills are needed to enter into any of these occupations. To provide students with information about possibilities in their home town should be in any local communities’ interest, and at the same time students must be prepared for a future working career anywhere in the world. To be able to work together with people whose cultural background is different than your own, will be crucial no matter whether you plan to stay in your home country or move to another country. Due to the technological development and how fast everything changes today, topics as communication, entrepreneurship and language will soon be as important as traditional subjects. The purpose of this project is two fold, and based on a needs analysis of what are challenges in each of the regions to which the schools in this project belong. On the one hand it focuses on job shadowing as a method to increase students’ motivation, and at the same time we will use the job shadowing to look into important social issues. Finding a job is essential in our lives. No doubt that the global economic crises have made a huge impact on our firstly education and later on the way young people take after finishing their schools. If we want our young students to cope with these circumstances, overcome difficulties and be happy and successful, we are obliged to offer them solutions and help them develop their skills to be better prepared for their future job. We also should show them the opportunities they have on a European labour market. Our intention is to cooperate, share experiences and find new solutions in different academic and social fields, including; 1. improving our foreign and native languages 2. Learning about factors which determine labour market 3. Emphasizing the importance of being well prepared for writing applications, CVs, and present ourselves for the job interviews 4. Learning about the opportunities young people may have while setting up their own businesses 5. Getting to know some companies from other countries which can open their markets to our students 6. Getting to know peers from all around Europe and realizing common features, exchange ideas and good practices 7. Better understanding and responding to social, linguistic and cultural diversity 8. The raise of students`active participation in the life of school, local community and the society 9. A use of variuos ICT techniques in order to increase students` and teachers` digital competence 10. A motivation to study and work harder and harder to achive goals. By means of different activities we are proposing, we would like our students to become the leaders of changes in the attitude towards the importance of being open-minded and ready to work hard to gain goals they have after finishing their education.
